Writer / Director - Nadine Truong

Nadine, a German-born Vietnamese filmmaker worked at various production companies and additionally gained valuable experience in talent representation prior to her education at AFI. She has co-produced multiple short films and has worked as art director, first assistant director, and script supervisor.
Nadine's directorial credits include CHOPSTICKS, THE MUSE, ONE NEVER KNOWS, MINE and SUSHI. She was one of eight recipients of the "Armed with A Camera" grant under the Visual Communication for Asian Pacific fellowship program. During her first year at AFI, Nadine was appointed the representative of the Directing Fellows on the Fellow Advisory Committee at AFI. One of only three female directors in the program, she has directed a second AFI thesis project EGGBABY, which completed production winter 2009. Nadine received her BA degree in Anthropology from UCLA in 2003.

Producer - Yu Yu Yang

Yu Yu received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Motion Picture from National Taiwan University of Arts in 2006, and won several scholarships during her stay. She wrote/directed/edited a short film ALL ABOUT PETER, which won the NTUA-MPD Silent Short Film, Best Film Award of 2003. Besides being a filmmaker, Yu Yu is also an experienced actor for stage, short films and commercial performance. She was one of only two selected into Godot Theatre Company’s advance training program in 2001, one of the biggest theatre companies in Taiwan. As a producer, she has produced several short films, a thesis film, music videos and commercials back in Taiwan. During her first year at AFI, she produced three short films, including THE CENTRE CANNOT HOLD, ANYTHING GOES, and KEEP A PART.

 

Cinematographer - Tal Lazar

Tal Lazar, an Israeli native, relocated to Los Angeles, California in 2007 to continue his successful career as a Director of Photography. During his studies for an MFA at the prestigious American Film Institute Conservatory, Tal received the FotoKem grant and Panavision's New Filmmakers grant for his thesis film “Shadow Man”. Tal holds a BFA in practical film studies from Tel Aviv University.
While pursuing his education, Tal received the Sharet Foundation Prize for Cinematography and participated in the 2005 Budapest Cinematography Masterclass, instructed by Mr. Vilmos Zsimond, ASC and Mr. John Schwartzman, ASC. He participated and produced the 2004 Tel Aviv Cinematography Masterclass, instructed by Mr. Adam Greenberg, ASC and Mr. Ricardo Aronovish, AFC. Production Designer - Toi Whitaker

Toi Whitaker is a recent graduate of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University where she received a BS in Theatre with concentration in Scenic Design and a minor in Fine Art. Having worked at numerous theatres across the country she completed a year long scenic design internship at the B Street Theatre in Sacramento, CA. Along with her theatrical background Toi has also worked as production designer, art director and other various art department positions on two feature length independent films as well as numerous student films in Florida and Michigan. Toi completed four short films as a first year Production Designer at the American Film Institute as well as two thesis films her second year: EGGBABY and SHADOW MAN.

 

Editor - Anna Hauger

Anna graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in biology in 2003. While there, she enrolled in several film production courses and happily abandoned the idea of going to medical school. During her time studying film at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, she received two Cine-Vegas emerging filmmaker awards for excellence in editing. Primo, the feature film that she co-edited while in Vegas, which made its debut at the Cine-Vegas film festival in 2008.
